I liked experimenting with Gale, and I would feel moderately comfortable with teaching someone about it. I found the extant database quite interesting as there seemed to be more multilingual texts searchable than the library site. I certainly was not seeing French and German texts on Mapplethorpe when I searched for Mapplethorpe only a couple hours earlier in the library site. I tried to work with texts in photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in German with some hiccups. Even when setting stop words to German, extreme misspellings were still rampant, which I suppose is, to an extent a part of the process. I do wonder, though, when data is simply deemed unusable for analytic purposes.
